With over 30 years of typesetting knowledge we have helped create a proverbial ‘mountain’ of books, building a reputation for accuracy and high-quality work with a friendly outlook, and always at very competitive rates. We have worked with some of the world’s most prestigious publishing houses and set titles for many household names … Terry Pratchett, Ben Elton, Monica Ali, Bill Bryson … the list is long.

We want using Falcon to feel as close as it can be to having your own in-house typesetting and design department. We understand you will have your own way of working and we will make that our way of working, hitting your schedules and making your working life as easy as possible. We ensure our technology and methods are always up to date, so your files will have no compatibility issues if you need to supply them to a customer or in-house department.

Our typesetting services

These days most titles are made up from a supplied text document, but at Falcon we have a complete keying service if required, or we can copy edit your text from marked corrections or produce a text file from hard copy using Optical Character Recognition technology (OCR).

We have a team of highly experienced copy editors available to work through your book. They not only correct and make consistent any spelling issues but also check syntax and grammar to ensure your book reads and flows well. They work closely with the typesetting team to ensure the correct layout of headings, figures, tables and references in your book.

As well as novels our back catalogue includes many more complicated layouts. We have a full in-house design team that will take your material and produced a beautifully finished book, ranging from simple page layout to complex page design and cover work. Over the years we have set many children’s titles, including a large number of the Horrible Science series, a host of monthly puzzle magazines, many instructional books including titles for the RYA and some beautifully designed full colour historical novels.

From the smallest piece of line art up to full colour images. We have a full in-house scanning service that can cater for your needs.

Not essential for every title but when you need an index, you need it done properly. Trust our experts to make sure your index is comprehensive and accurate.

Every title we have ever produced digitally is stored on our archive ready for instant retrieval. If we typeset your book, we will have a copy of it you can call on whenever you need to.
